Conservatives' O'Toole breaks climate tax promise

What is that makes people make promises, I mean real, unequivocal statements, only to blatantly break them, once they have achieved their goal? 

This is what Canadian Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole has done.

Here is what the Canadian Taxpayers Federation had to say: “This is not what O’Toole said while he was running for leader. He signed the Canadian Taxpayers Federation pledge to scrap the carbon tax. 

Here’s what it said: “If elected prime minister of Canada, I will immediately repeal the Trudeau carbon tax and reject any future national carbon tax or cap-and-trade scheme.”

Let’s be clear. O’Toole made a promise to scrap the carbon tax. His new policy would break that promise. When someone is breaking a promise, you have to hold them accountable.

Sure, he’s promising it will be a lower carbon tax, but how can you trust that when he’s about to break his first promise on carbon taxes? Plus, the O’Toole carbon tax is arguably worse than the Trudeau carbon tax, because it’s going to be expensive and bureaucratic to set up and force you to spend it on so-called green items the government dictates you can buy.

In addition to the obvious violation, breaking his promise, two other issues stand out to show how non conservative this man really is:

The tax set up is bureaucratic and expensive. 

The tax rebate is a Government fiat. You get the rebate but here is how you must spend it. 

Like many others, O’Toole is pandering to the hypocritical environment crowd who believe in colossal eco system degradation through steel, plastic and concrete turbines and solar panels splashed over the country side, and batteries only made possible from extensive mining and, at this point, slave labor from Africa. 

As Maxime Bernier of the Peoples Party of Canada has said : “the climate alarmists could not be happier. They control every party in Ottawa now, except the Peoples Party Of Canada.”
